With Speed of Life, the Morgan presents the first in-depth retrospective of the New York-based photographer Peter Hujar (1934–1987). Drawn from the extensive holdings of the artist’s work at the Morgan and from nine other collections, the exhibition and its catalog explore the artist’s full career, from his beginnings in the mid-1950s to his central role in the East Village art scene three decades later. Hujar’s sharp, serene, square-format photographs confer gravity on the object of his attention, granting it an eternal moment’s pause within the rush of passing time. Hujar focused on the spark of encounter between himself and his subject, be it a goose, a lover, an underground theatrical performer, the dappled surface of the Hudson River, or the placid features of his own face. In early adulthood Hujar worked as a studio assistant to magazine professionals and spent years in Italy with two successive partners, artists Joseph Raffael and Paul Thek. His short career in fashion photography ended in 1971, when Hujar decided the hustle of magazine work "wasn’t right for me." After moving into a loft above a theater at Twelfth Street and Second Avenue in 1973, Hujar pursued a bohemian life of poverty, taking paying jobs only when necessary and focusing on the subjects that compelled him. In his book Portraits in Life and Death (1976) Hujar combined intimate portraits of his downtown coterie (painters, performers, choreographers, and writers) with studies of mummies in the Palermo Catacombs. Briefly a lover and then a mentor to the young artist David Wojnarowicz, in his final seven years Hujar continued chronicling a creative Downtown subculture running out of time in a fast-changing city.
Look for motor training can be tough and complicated. Most of the schooling courses out there you will discover happen to be in textual content structure. What I suggest is, they are commonly in E-E-book sort, a compilation of term paperwork, or in pdf structure. In other terms, no make a difference how you appear at it, you have to go through the information and facts to assimilate it.

Never said Lynch should be fired. In fact I think the opposite. I really believe that he started slowly and let others have too much input because of his inexperience. I say he has to stand up and take ownership of the decisions that come out of that building. The guy is a winner and given enough time I think he will do the job. I’d like to see both him and Kyle get the full 6 years. But try to remember that Harbaugh has the record in the York’s history of ownership at 4 years…and the 4th year was sabotaged by Jed and Baalke. I’m a trust but verify kinda guy. I personally think that Lynch has to do something other than say: “We’re going to do better”. In my book, Lynch, a defense guy, has to replace Saleh or at a minimum bring in some guys a little closer to my age than Saleh’s. (I’m the same age as Wade Phillips FYI). To use a phrase from the business world: Keeping the same staff is bad optics. NFL stands for “Not For Long” and that applies to coaches too. Nothing personal, just my $.02.

Rockland Center for the Arts, in partnership with Collaborative Concepts, have sited sculptures by 12 regional artists on RoCA’s new nature trails just off the Catherine Konner Sculpture Park. Artists create and exhibit site-specific pieces relating to the environment and man, inspired by the natural habitat of the lower Hudson Valley. Artists will address ideas of light, organics, recycling and sustainability through these sculptures. Some may even explore the passage of time, loss or regeneration. Visitors will be able to see the connection between nature and sculpture and how nature can inform design, illuminating the bond between art and nature. The idea is to have adults and children connect with nature, to relieve the ‘nature deficit disorder’ we have these days. Perfectly placed sculptures, visible through and around the natural habitat brings a fresh enchantment to these trails. A glimpse of an art piece beckons the visitor to meander slowly through the paths and observe the intricacies of each exceptional work displayed within the landscape. The sculpture trail connects to the Palisades Park. This tourist destination will have an emotional connection for visitors with nature, the art and inspire all to spend more time outdoors while paying homage to the creative spirit that lives right here in the Hudson Valley and Rockland. The exhibits will be on view May 21, 2017 – April 30, 2018, free and open to the public from dawn to dusk. Rockland Center for the Arts is located at 27 S. Greenbush Rd., West Nyack, NY. Gallery hours are: Mon-Fri 10-4 pm; Sat and Sun 1-4 pm. For more information visit www.rocklandartcenter.org or call 845-358-0877. RoCA’s programs are made possible, in part, with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Using stories submitted by children, the Story Pirates create outlandishly funny sketches and mini-musicals. Whether it’s following the adventures of a superhero baby, or reminiscing about disposable rain ponchos at a baseball game, the songs and stories explode with the creative energy that only a child could possess.
